The Internal Revenue Service has made it official. After 20 years serving the field as a nonprofit organization, The Museum Group applied for and received 501(c/)(3) status as a tax-exempt organization.
The formal recognition of TMG as tax-exempt reflects TMG’s ongoing role as a collective resource for the advancement of the museum field and its commitment to helping museums increase their value to their communities. The IRS determination was based on the increasing educational dimension of TMG’s work.
At AAM’s 2018 meeting in Phoenix TMG will continue its tradition of providing conference goers with uncommon opportunities to engage with provocative thought leaders from a variety of sectors. As a group of professionals committed to advancing issues critical to the field, TMG’s signature Conversations and other future programs will explore current and unsettled museum-related issues that benefit from multiple perspectives and collective investigation.
