Jean Svadlenak received two Leadership in History Awards from AASLH. AASLH bestows Leadership in History Awards to establish and encourage standards of excellence in the collection, preservation, and interpretation of state and local history in order to make the past more meaningful to all Americans. By publicly recognizing superior and innovative achievements, the Leadership in History Awards serve as an inspiration to others in the field.

One is for her work to research and develop the exhibit, “Overland Park: A Place of Peace, Comfort & Plenty” for the Overland Park Historical Society, in Overland Park, Kansas. The other is for “Caring for Body, Mind & Spirit: Story of St. Joseph Nurses” a permanent exhibit and video for the St. Joseph Medical Center, in Kansas City, Missouri.
